A Prayer for the Soul of America

Dear God,
I love this country.
Not for what it has, but for what it promised to be —
A land of freedom, of dignity, of courage, of justice for all.
But now, I see confusion.
I see flags used not for unity, but for hate.
Voices of reason drowned out by rage.
And I ask, Lord…
Why do You allow power to fall into the hands of those who twist what is good?
My heart aches,
because I believed in the soul of this nation.
The stars and stripes are not a symbol of one side —
They represent all of us, together.
Please, God…
Do not let the light of this nation be snuffed out by fear and falsehood.
Let truth rise again.
Let those who love justice and compassion have the courage to speak,
to stand,
to endure.
Heal this land.
Restore what has been broken.
Raise up voices — even quiet ones like mine —
to shine in the darkness.
Let the real America — the one built on sacrifice, equality, and truth —
be seen again.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
(I wrote this prayer not to accuse or divide,
but to express the pain of watching something I love — the soul of America — being distorted by hate.
This is not a political statement.
It’s just the cry of someone who still believes in truth, justice, and healing.
If you feel the same, you’re not alone.
If you don’t, I still send this prayer in peace.)
